OnMilwaukee.com and the Journal Sentinel are both reporting that Ultimate Electronics is looking for a location in the Milwaukee area. The JS article, backed up by the store's career page, is confident that the retailer has its eyes set on the former Circuit City location in Greenfield, across from Best Buy.
Personally, I'd like to see them locate in one of the empty mid-boxes at the southern edge of Southridge Mall. With their size they could fit in either the Linens n Things space or divide the Steve & Barry's space in half. It would generate additional foot and vehicle traffic to the southern area of the mall, which is good for Simon Malls.
It's good news that another electronics chain is opening its doors in the area. For the past year or so, the area for the most part only had Best Buy as the all-out electronics retailer. Circuit City went bankrupt, and CompUSA left their Brookfield location several years ago. Hopefully Ultimate Electronics can make a profit here in Milwaukee.
UPDATE: Based on my research, if Ultimate Electronics is going in the former Circuit City on 76th Street, the facade will likely look like this store, located in Las Vegas:
