From a comment posted on my little blurb about Dave & Buster's opening by Carol Voss, who is the Executive Director over at IndependenceFirst:
There's a VIP Pre-Opening event February 27th from 6-10pm - limited availability of tickets. $40/pp to order by credit card: 414-226-8304 details at http://www.independencefirst.org Proceeds of this VIP event will support IndependenceFirst and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee.
I applaud organizations such as IndependenceFirst, whose mission is as follows:
IndependenceFirst is a non-profit agency directed by, and for the benefit of, persons with disabilities, primarily serving the four county metropolitan Milwaukee area. Our agency mission is to effectively facilitate empowerment of individuals with disabilities through:
Education, Advocacy, Independent Living Services, and Coalition Building
We promote diversity and multicultural participation in our operation and services.
The four “core” services offered are: independent living skills training, peer counseling, advocacy, and information and referral services to persons with disabilities in the counties of Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee, and Milwaukee. IndependenceFirst provides services to persons with disabilities of ALL kinds, throughout ALL age groups.
I recently spoke with Carol, who mentioned to me that IndependenceFirst can have an impact here in Franklin with our disabled residents of any age group.
As a sidenote, I discovered my little blurb about the opening is now linked on Dave & Buster's website for Wisconsin. It goes to show that area retailers and restaurants still are reading metro area websites and blogs.
